On March 21,2017 representatives Mr. Katsanis, Mr. Fregosi, Mrs. Foret, and Mr. Jacobs from the Lions’ Club, who are dedicated to doing services to help our community, came to Schneckenburger to perform free eye exams for kids in our school. Twenty -three kids in our school received a referral to an eye doctor and most of them did not know they needed to be. This organization was founded in 1917 (they’re now celebrating 100 years). Why do they do eye screening? It all started in 1925 when Helen Keller (she was deaf and blind) challenged the Lion’s Club to help out with people of all ages. They accepted, and to this day they still provide this service. This organization is worldwide and it is also both females and males. The students of Schneckenburger give thanks to the Lion’s Club for their visit and help. Reported by 5th grader, Naymaris Merette.
A Big Thank you from Anzar Syed pictured with his Pre-K teacher, Dana Howard. Both Anzar’s prescription lenses and specialty frames presented a challenge locally. The Lions’ Club was able to locate professionals who were able to create special lenses and provide a contoured frame.
