Schneckenburger’s K-Kids Club supports our troops!
This month, Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Pertuit successfully led a K-Kids project to help support our local National Guard Troop 141, who is currently serving in Iraq. The whole school participated (students and faculty) to donate to the cause. The students at Schneckenburger Elementary participated by bringing in items for donation boxes. Each homeroom was assigned a specific item to bring in. For example, Mrs. Pertuit’s homeroom brought in powdered drink for the soldiers to use in their water bottles. Students could also donate a dollar to help with shipping costs. In addition, 5th grade students wrote letters to the soldiers to keep them occupied and motivated. We led this community project because we understand the sacrifice our soldiers are making when they have to leave their families for an extended time. We thought the soldiers would appreciate something from home that they could use daily.
