On Wednesday, August 22nd,a third grade class was chosen to participate in a virtual visit with Louisiana’s First Lady Mrs. Donna Edwards. Mrs. Broussard, the librarian, and Mrs. Donley collaborated to plan and implement a planned a SKYPE video call for an excited class of third graders in the library. She read the book Bernice to the students which was written and illustrated in Louisiana. Mrs. Edwards focused on one of her goal’s to stop bullying through the book about bullying, a bullying pledge with the students. The students even got to meet one of the first dogs. Mrs. Edwards wrapped up the event by taking students’ questions. The students learned about a day in the life of a First Lady, her love of teaching and children, her interests and hobbies, and the Edwards’ family. It was a FANTASTIC FIRST getting to visit with Louisiana’s FIRST LADY. We promise to keep our anti-bullying pledge and remember Mrs. Edwards’ inspiring words to help us this school year! Thank you Mrs. Edwards!
